Faith in Motion: Mauro’s Mission of Service in Espírito Santo, Brazil

For Mauro, ministry is not something reserved for a church building or a Sunday service. As a missionary in Espírito Santo, Brazil, he lives out his faith wherever people are found—in neighborhoods, on rural roads, inside correctional facilities, on buses, and among families facing difficult circumstances. His work brings together evangelism, prayer, practical assistance, and a willingness to go wherever there is a need. The photographs show this clearly: Mauro is rarely standing still, but instead traveling, serving, praying, visiting, and working alongside others. As part of New Beginning Ministries, his life reflects a simple but powerful principle: Christian faith is meant to be lived through both words and action.
One of the most significant areas of Mauro’s ministry is his work with prisoners and people connected to the correctional system. Several of the photographs show ministry taking place at and around the Centro de Triagem de Viana, where people gather for prayer, encouragement, conversation, and spiritual support. In these moments, Mauro and other ministry partners can be seen praying directly with individuals, placing hands on them, listening, and offering personal encouragement. Prison ministry carries a particularly important message—that no person is beyond grace, restoration, forgiveness, or the possibility of a new beginning. This commitment to reaching people in difficult and often overlooked circumstances closely reflects the heart of New Beginning Ministries and its desire to share the Gospel through compassion, discipleship, and personal connection.
Mauro’s ministry also reaches families and communities facing practical needs. The photographs show teams traveling together, walking through rural areas, visiting communities, and preparing substantial quantities of food for distribution. For someone struggling to provide for a family, receiving groceries is more than a practical gift; it can also be a reminder that they have been seen and that someone cares enough to show up. Mauro helps bring food to those in need while continuing to build relationships, pray with people, and share his faith. This combination of practical care and spiritual ministry demonstrates that compassion is not separate from the mission—it is one of the ways that mission becomes visible.
There is also something meaningful about the ordinary, hardworking side of Mauro’s story. In addition to his missionary work, he sells eggs on buses, earning a living while continuing to travel and serve wherever opportunities arise. He is also a single father raising a 15-year-old son, carrying the everyday responsibilities of providing, guiding, and being present for his family while remaining active in ministry. These details give a fuller picture of what missionary life can actually look like: not a life removed from everyday pressures, but one lived faithfully in the middle of them. Mauro’s story is marked by perseverance, humility, and a willingness to continue serving even when the work requires long days, travel, sacrifice, and balancing many responsibilities at once.
Mauro’s life offers a strong example of what New Beginning Ministries seeks to encourage through its work: faith that moves beyond intention and becomes service. In the photos, that service is visible in the roads traveled, the food prepared, the prayers offered, the people visited, and the teams working together in local communities. Mission work is often built through consistency rather than recognition—the decision to keep showing up, keep helping, keep praying, and keep going where there is a need. New Beginning Ministries is grateful to have Mauro as part of this work in Brazil and to stand alongside people who are willing to serve with compassion and purpose. Through ministry in correctional facilities, neighborhoods, churches, homes, and everyday encounters throughout Espírito Santo, Mauro continues helping create opportunities for hope, discipleship, connection, and new beginnings.
